I was one of the ones that came Friday and didn't come the rest of the weekend. I didn't find a project that lit my creative fire and, with the "real world" constantly knocking on the door, I felt it was best to use my weekend to accomplish those tasks. It was great to meet you though, if only briefly! Great write up of the event - makes me wish I did find the time/energy!

Yeah, I think some teams were really cranking, but to me it felt a little like a library (and not necessarily in a good way...) Thanks for all of the great pictures you took of the event - just looking at the food pics made me hungry again! :)

Great write up. This was also my first startup weekend and I loved it. Not having been to a startup weekend before I'm not sure how common the quiet saturday is.

Hey, I *went* to that business school and didn't know where to find everyone. Although, if I was looking for a job in renewable energy, I'm pretty sure I could find those guys - they'd posted flyers about every 15 feet! :)

I think you make some really good points. I think this sort of thing is tough because I imagine if you get the right people together, all sorts of interesting things can materialize, whereas at other times it might stall because the mix isn't quite as conducive to starting companies.

I think having some sort of venue for people to hash out ideas beforehand, brainstorm or create buzz (and community) would be a good way to kick off things before folks end up there over the weekend.

The communication issues too were problematic, I know I'd never been to the CU campus before (though I know Boulder fairly well) and because of construction, it took me a while (literally flagging down someone) to find Leeds and that's despite making it there early...so I ended up late, which was a bummer...

But that said, I thought everything after that went off pretty well and it's the interesting mix of "low key" and "intense" that can be fun to watch. Good times!
